These baskets are highly sought-after globally for their aesthetic appeal and usefulness because of its distinctive shape, complex weaving patterns, and vivid colors.  Materials and Craftsmanship Bolga U-shaped baskets are painstakingly made from locally available veta vera, or elephant grass. Because of its strength, resilience, and flexibility, this grass is perfect for basket weaving. The first step in the procedure is to harvest and dye the grass, which is done using natural dyes to produce the vibrant hues that define these baskets. After being dyed, the grass is divided, twisted, and weaved by expert craftspeople whose methods are passed down through the years.
